The Government has introduced new rules for the May 2023 Local Elections.

For the first time ever voters will need to present Photo ID to vote at a polling station – such as a passport, driving license, Blue Badge, Bus Pass. Anyone who doesn’t have these can apply for special ID cards provided by councils for voting.
These are called Voter Authority Certificate more details will be made available in mid-January on how to obtain a certificate.
Residents who sign up for a postal vote will need no photo ID.
The introduction of a photo ID requirement must not prevent people from voting. There will be a national and local campaign in the new year.
If at the May Elections you go to cast your vote at a polling station without a valid photo proof of identification you will not be able to vote.
Look out for further information in January.
