Parish Clerk & Proper Officer

Angela Eason

The role of a Parish Council Clerk

The Parish Clerk is the main administrative officer for the Parish Council and supports councillors in carrying out their duties. They organise and prepare council meetings, manage agendas and minutes, maintain official records and correspondence, and help ensure that the Council follows the correct legal and procedural requirements.

As Proper Officer, the Clerk has specific legal responsibilities on behalf of the Parish Council, including ensuring that statutory duties and formal decisions are properly administered.

The Clerk also acts as an important point of contact for residents, councillors and other organisations, helping to ensure the smooth and effective running of the Parish Council.
